When trying to clear up your skin it is just as important what you put into your body as what you rub onto it! You may have tried all sorts of special creams and what not but here is some healthy and extremely yummy ways of naturally improving your skin!

Hot Pink Smoothie

Berries are extremely healthy as they are full of antioxidants, they will help you to avoid swelling and to create radiant skin. Not only that but the yogurt creates firmer skin which helps you to avoid wrinkles.

Recipe : Add to the blender 1 cup of frozen strawberries, 1 cup of frozen raspberries, 1 cup of orange juice, ½ cup plain Greek yogurt and a couple of tablespoons of syrup or honey to sweeten. Blend and you have a delicious smoothie.

Beetroot Crisps with Curried Yogurt

Beetroot is rich in skin improving nutrients and really helps to clear up acne or oily prone skin. It also helps you to stop getting spots!  

Recipe : Mix together 2 tablespoons plain Greek yogurt and a pinch of curry powder. Peel and thinly slice a beetroot. Rub some olive oil fully over each slice. Bake until crisp which is about 30 minutes.

Tomato and Cottage Cheese slices

Tomatoes work as a sunscreen from within. They also fight cellular damage and the reddening of skin (so excellent for rosacea sufferers). Cottage cheese is an antidote for dry and flaky skin.

Recipe: Cut a fresh tomato into slices and spoon on a tablespoon of cottage cheese onto each slice. Sprinkle the top with chopped herbs such as chives, basil or parsley.

Devilled Eggs

Eggs benefit your skin due to the high Vitamin A content which helps with the development of new skin. It also has a high Vitamin D content which helps with skin development.

Recipe: Hard boil your eggs, remove the shells, cut in half and remove the yolks. Mix some mustard, mayonnaise, garlic salt, and onion powder together with the egg yolks. Place the mixture back in the hollowed out eggs, refrigerate and garnish with paprika.

Red Pepper and Tomato Dip

We have already talked about the amazing benefits of tomatoes but the red peppers in this dip also do some amazing things. The very high content of antioxidants in peppers keep your cells very healthy and replenishes the nutrients and minerals your skin needs.

Recipe : Blend a jar of Peppadew sweet Piquante peppers with three fresh tomatoes and 1 tablespoon of sundried tomato paste with a bunch of chives. Blend it until it is still chunky, season with salt and pepper. You can serve this with vegetable sticks or grilled tortillas.

Breakfast Parfait

Papaya is a huge source of vitamin C and antioxidants, it also has excellent anti-inflammatory properties too! When adding the sunflower seeds you are adding another skin bosting ingredient as it is very high in B Vitamins, Vitamin E and antioxidants

Recipe: Spoon some fresh Greek yogurt into a bowl with cut up papaya and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds.

Cheesy Broccoli Stuffed Mushrooms

Broccoli is high in antioxidants and it stimulates collagen production keeping your skin healthy. The vitamin A protects the cell membranes and helps protect against radiation from the sun. Not only that but it helps to repair skin damage by renewing the skin faster.

Recipe: In a large bowl, mix some pesto with 150g of hummus, 150g of tofu, half a head of broccoli, 1 cup of chopped cheese and ½ a small chopped red chilli. Season with sea salt and cracked pepper. Place 7 Portobello mushrooms with the stems removed top down on a lined baking tray and fill with mixture. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the cheese looks melted.

Good and Green Smoothie

Kale is excellent for its anti-inflammatory properties and detoxifying ingredients which will help clear up your skin rapidly as well as Vitamin A and C which help stop you from getting dry skin and prevents the premature aging of skin. Almonds are full of Vitamin E which help protect against free radical damage and creates firm younger looking skin.

Recipe: In a blender puree 1 medium banana, 1 cup of chopped kale and 1 cup of almond milk until smooth.

Avocado, black bean and corn dip

Black beans have a high content of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants which benefits for your skin have already been listed. Avocado is also an excellent food for your skin as it is a great source of antioxidant carotenoids which provide protection for your skin against the environment and helps to stop fine lines and wrinkles.

Recipe : Mix together a can of rinsed and drained beans and corn. Cut up two avocadoes, one onion, one red pepper and mix with the beans and the corn. Add ¾ cup of white wine vinegar, ¼ cup of fresh chopped cilantro, one tablespoon of garlic, two teaspoons of olive oil, one teaspoon of ground cumin and the juice of one lime. Mix until well combined and you are done!

Sweet Potato Fries

Sweet potato contains a lot of Vitamin C which helps maintain skins youthful elasticity. It also has many other nutrients to build healthy skin!

Recipe: Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Peel 1 1 ½ pounds of sweet potatoes and cut into strips about 1/2” wide on each side. Cover the potatoes with coconut oil, sea salt, paprika and cinnamon. Put them on a baking tree and cook for 30-45 turning them every ten minutes.
