Laser hair removal is for men and women
Laser hair removal is becoming one of the most popular beauty treatments for men and women alike. As it can be used on virtually any body part and reduces hair growth to the point of you becoming permanently fuzz-free, it’s not hard to see why. So how does it work?
Put simply, the laser light damages the root of the hair without damaging the follicle; after a few treatments, the hair is simply less able to grow and stops. Like magic! However you will need several treatments, so don’t be disheartened if your hair grows back after the first few sessions. (If you’re hairier at the start it may take longer, or less time if you’re already relatively smooth-skinned.)
Laser hair removal has many benefits, including:
- Reducing hair growth (of course!)
- It’s completely safe – although you should be careful to book with a qualified clinician
- No more shaving, waxing, tweezing or depilating
- Suitable for all skin types
Body parts that can go under the laser include the bikini line, underarms, legs, back, face, hands, feet, tummy and pubic areas. Men might also want to get their sideburns, beard area or neck tidied up a little bit.
Of course, while there are no real side effects, you may experience a little pain during and after your procedure. Most people describe it as being like having an elastic band snapped against their skin, so if you can cope with waxing or plucking we’re sure you’ll be absolutely fine. If you’re worried, that’s OK – ask your clinician beforehand for a numbing or cooling cream that will take the edge off. You should also expect that your skin will be a little red after each treatment, but it’ll fade quickly and be a distant memory by your next treatment.
