Laser anti-ageing treatment treats all signs of ageing, whether that be fine lines, wrinkles or crows-feet; age-spots, sun damage or an overall deterioration of the skin. All of these can increase dramatically how old we look or feel and can now be dramatically improved by laser anti-ageing treatments.
Laser anti-ageing treatment works in two main ways. First by penetrating deep into the dermis and hypodermis (deep layers of the skin) to stimulate collagen production, and second by treating the pigmentation found on the epidermis (outer layer of the skin). This duel action accomplishes the reduction of lines and wrinkles as the surge in collagen works to increase the elasticity of the skin; while the melanin found in age spots or irregularities is broken up and disposed of. We have two very effective lasers for treating the signs of ageing, the PicoWay Resolve and Icon.
The PicoWay Resolve laser fires out light in picoseconds (one trillionth of a second) and features both 532nm and 1064nm wavelengths (nm is a measurement of wavelength which is a billion times smaller than a meter), making it adjustable for different skin types and to reach both the outer and inner layers of the skin.
The Icon fractional, non-ablative laser is also excellent for anti-ageing. The various Microlenses allow for customized treatments; the XF Microlens for high speed, quick treatment sessions or the XD Microlens for deeper penetration.
Laser anti-ageing treatment is not only for the face, if you suffer from age-spots on the hands or shoulders these areas can also be treated.
What You Will See
You will experience redness and some itching on the area, that usually lasts for a couple of days following a treatment. This redness and itching will then subside. The skin will be dry following treatments, and keeping hydrated by drinking a lot of water and moisturising the area will help a lot.
You can expect to see an overall improvement in the tone and texture of your skin that improves gradually with each treatment, as fine lines, wrinkles and pigmentation start to diminish and your skin gains in youthful elasticity.
For the first 24 hours make-up should not be applied over a treated are and you also need to avoid heat such as hot baths, saunas or steam rooms. For the duration of your treatments you need to keep the area safe from the sun, using a strong sunscreen as needed.
Length of Treatment
A course of treatments is required to see desired results. This is usually between 4-8 treatments. At your initial consultation, the technician can give you a personal estimate.
Between treatments a gap of 4-6 weeks is required to allow your skin to recover and react to the laser treatment. The total treatment is therefore usually completed within 8 months.
Duration of Treatment
The treatment time varies depending on the size of the area affected. On average treating the face, an individual treatment will take as little as 30 minutes.
