What is Laser Tattoo Removal?

Laser tattoo removal works by targeting the ink in a tattoo with the correct wavelength. The ink absorbs the heat from the laser, causing it to overheat and break into sand-like particles. Our white blood cells remove the debris from the broken ink as waste when the ink molecules become small enough to fit in the bloodstream.

Can PicoWay Remove Green and Blue Ink?

PicoWay can remove these colours with a 730 nm and 785 nm handpiece, which we also have at the clinic. However, we have a massive advantage at Pulse Light Clinic with the PicoSure & PicoSure Pro lasers; we generally opt for these when removing green and blue ink. The PicoSure laser’s 755 nm tattoo removal system tends to be faster and more efficient on blue and green ink on caucasian skin types. 

Red, Orange and Yellow Ink Gone in as Little as One Session

Historically, Red, Orange and Yellow were the most challenging colours of inks to remove. The advancements in Picosecond laser tattoo removal systems have introduced a more effective version of the 532 nm wavelength. Perfect for removing red-based colours, this short wavelength, although more aggressive than its counterparts, can remove red ink in as little as a single session!* However, it tends to blister more, so treatment is typically only performed once the surrounding ink colours have lessened to reduce the overall skin reaction. Removing red and yellow ink is expected to be accompanied by blistering, and at this time, treatment is only performed on untanned Caucasian skin types due to the risks of skin lightening.

Picoway on Darker Skin Types

We can effectively use the PicoWay 1064 nm laser for darker skin types to break up black and some dark blue ink colours. We also offer the Revlite – which is excellent on darker skin types with inked shading and a history of skin pigmentation problems.
