PRP is platelet-rich plasma, sometimes known as the Dracula TherapyTM.
Dr. Daniel Sister was the first to introduce this into the UK, where it is now a common treatment;
one of the most popular for anti-aging, scars, stretch marks and skin revitalisation.

It can also be used for joint rejuvenation and hair loss treatment as well as skin and face
rejuvenation; with an impressive, validated research base behind it. There are many different
machines and methods and again we choose to use the reliable evidence-based option with a
wealth of research behind them.

For a PRP facial, a small sample of blood is taken from the arm; just like a regular blood test.
The blood is spun in a special centrifuge which allows the platelet-rich straw-colored plasma
layer to be separated from the blood. This layer is rich in powerful growth factors that have
been shown to rejuvenate skin, soft tissue and even bone loss. The layer is extracted and then
re-injected into the face.

Depending on a patient’s concerns the injections can be done deeply around the eyes, jaw bone and nasolabial area or within the skin layer itself; even in the upper eyelid for example!
Often we do a combination of SkinPen and PRP with excellent effects.

Platelet-Rich Plasma FAQ's

How long do results last?

Results are visible after about 6 weeks and a further 1 or 2 treatments is recommended for full
impact. The results are long lasting but some people choose to have maybe an annual top up
treatment after a year.

Is PRP better than ?

The 2 treatments work in very different ways, with paralysing certain muscles to achieve a
smooth wrinkle free skin (or other treatment options) and PRP actually improving the texture,
integrity and firmness of the skin itself. Any of the above treatments could be combined to full
effect according to an individual’s particular concerns and preferences.
Some people like the fact that PRP is autologous (ie a natural treatment with only their own
blood being used to extract growth factors) rather than any “foreign substance”.

Does it hurt?

The injections are with such a fine needle they are not uncomfortable; very similar to that felt
with injections (tiny stings). The blood test to extract the lasms is like a regular blood test;
again with a very small, fine needle.
