General Life-Style Tips for Healthy Skin. For women, being in this age group and making healthy eating a priority, is one of the most beneficial investments you can make to ensure your health remains good for many years to come.
Get sufficient sleep every night. You can never catch up on sleep! During sleep many detoxification, healing and repair processes are occurring. If you are someone who ‘burns the candle at both ends’, take a photograph of yourself when you get a full nights sleep, and a photograph when you skimp on sleep. Compare the two, and see what good quality sleep does for your skin.
• Always clean your skin before bed, and apply a pea-sized amount of organic virgin coconut oil to the palm of your hand and rub until it liquidises. Apply to your freshly cleaned skin, and overnight the oil will be fully absorbed due to the slight body temperature rise that occurs when we sleep. Coconut oil contains beneficial fats that are easily absorbed and utilised.
• Exercise daily. Exercise increases circulation which results in speedier detoxification and oxygen delivery, plus increased nutrient uptake by all of your cells, including the skin.
• Engage in calming activities, even if it is only a 10 minute break every few hours. A stress hormone called Cortisol increases the production of oil in the skin, thereby increasing the potential to develop a pimple. Stress must be healthily balanced with relaxation.
• Increase your endorphin production. Endorphins are those chemical messangers that are released when we experience pleasure. Working to achieve a personal goal, falling in love, recalling a fond memory, hearing exciting news, winning a competition and even sex all stimulate the release of endorphins. Endorphins make you glow!
