Everything You Need to Know About Microneedling Aftercare

You’ve just had a Morpheus 8 treatment at Pulse Light Clinic, and you’re eager to maximise the benefits of your procedure. As with any invasive or minimally invasive treatment, understanding what to expect can be crucial. Morpheus 8 offers remarkable results for skin laxity, jawline tightening, cellulite reduction, acne scar healing, skin rejuvenation, and pore reduction. Your skin will become tighter and more radiant in no time! Follow our aftercare advice to ensure you’re doing all you can to achieve smoother-looking skin.

What to Expect After Your Morpheus8 Treatment

Morpheus 8 is a deeper alternative to standard microneedling and incorporates Radio Frequency, which induces heat. This means the treatment may have slightly increased side effects.

After your treatment, you might experience:

  • Redness (erythema) and swelling (edema) lasting up to 48 hours
  • A feeling of tightness in the treated area
  • Potential bruising, which increases with age and certain medications
  • Small needle marks that can last a few weeks, especially on the body
  • Itchy skin, which is a healing response
  • Possible breakouts around the micro holes
  • Water retention on areas where you’ve had fat reduction

Microneedling Aftercare

Follow these guidelines for aftercare:

  • Use Clinicept or antiseptic face wash for the first 1-3 days.
  • Avoid retinols, strong products, and perfume for a week.
  • Use clean nightwear for the body and clean pillowcases to protect your face from potential infection.
  • Don’t rub the skin; only pat it dry with a clean towel for the first week when cleansing.
  • Don’t exfoliate until all the scabs have left the skin, and be very gentle when you do.
  • Use a low weight pure Hyaluronic acid serum with clean hands and cool water to hydrate the skin. This will take advantage of the increased product absorption in the first few days.
  • Stay cool after the treatments. Avoid exercise, sauna, steam room, hot showers for at least 48 hours.
  • Avoid makeup for 1-3 days to allow needle holes to heal. After this, mineral makeup is ideal.
  • Try to avoid tight clothing over the treated body areas as this can cause friction and lead to pigmentation for sensitive skin.
  • After three days, you can return to your normal skincare routine (apart from exfoliating), avoiding strong products such as retinol until the scabs have left the skin.
  • Use SPF 50 after the skin is healed – until then, completely avoid sun exposure. Try an oil-free sunscreen or zinc-based for extra protection.
  • Avoid sunbeds and strong sun exposure for four weeks after your treatment.
  • Do not pick the skin. If you feel the skin is itchy, you can take antihistamines.
