Eliminate unsightly acne scars with laser removal treatment

Acne scarring can be unsightly and put a big dent in someone’s self-confidence. If you’d like to get rid of your acne scars forever, Pulse Light Clinic can help.

Acne scarring occurs in the dermis, the area of skin directly below its surface. The dermis acts somewhat like a cushion, but when people suffer from acne the dermis becomes inflamed. This is because the body is attempting to repair the wound that is created when pimples, blackheads or other skin problems are burst or otherwise removed.

In severe cases, the body simply works too hard at repairing the problem and an excess of collagen builds up. This collagen may permanently stay in place, creating the scar. Often in the case of acne scars this scarring forms in such a way that a pit appears in the skin. This is often referred to as an ice pick scar. In milder cases the scar may not be a scar per se, but an excess of pigmentation. These generally aren’t as permanent as other acne scars.

What happens during acne scar removal treatment

During your laser acne scar removal treatment you may feel some discomfort, but this should be mild. If you’re worried about the pain just ask – we’ll sort you out with some anaesthetic cream if necessary.

Afterwards you should avoid sun exposure or use a high SPF sunscreen if you must go out in the sun. You should also avoid perfumed body washes or hot baths for 12 hours after your session.
